Project description
Lecture Radarmeteorology
This Lecture on Radarmeteorology consists of three parts.
Part 1 covers the theoretical background. Part 2 consists of a set of jupyter notebooks (python) where the radar processing algorithms introduced in Part 1 are utilized. In Part 3 the students produce a seminar paper on a given task using the learned theorie and computational algorithms.
Students can improve their skills in special exercise notebooks.
The Lecture is split into these Lessons:
1. Scattering and Beam Propagation
2. Radar Equation and Polarimetric Variables 1
3. Polarimetric Variables 2 - Phase Processing/Att. Corr.
4. Attenuation Correction (ZPHI-Method),
4a. Quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE)
4b. Rainfall estimation and rain gauge comparison
5. Microphysical Processes, Quasi-Vertical Profiles
6. Hydrometeorclassification
